Traffic Offenses

Habitual Traffic Violations
The Department shall suspend a person’s driver license upon conviction of:

  1. At least four (4) moving traffic violations within a twelve
    (12) month period
  2. At least seven (7) moving traffic violations within a twenty-four
    (24) month period.

Reinstatement requirements
The person may be eligible to request an administrative hearing to contest the suspension.   Should the driving privilege be suspended, a reinstatement fee will be required prior to the renewal or issuance of a driver license.

Driving While License Suspended/Invalid
A person who is operating a motor vehicle while their license is under suspension, revocation, denial, or cancellation is subject to an additional license suspension for the same period of time as the original suspension.

Reinstatement Requirements

  1. A reinstatement fee will be required prior to the renewal/issuance of a driver license.
  2. A person who has been convicted for the offense of "Driving While License Invalid" is required to file proof of insurance (Form SR-22). Obtain proof of insurance (Form SR-22) from your insurance company and submit to the Department. The Form SR-22 is required for two (2) years from date of conviction.

Driver License Restriction Violation
A person who has been convicted of two or more violations of a driver license restriction/endorsement is subject to license suspension.
