Our busiest times of the year are during Spring Break, summer and after all major holidays, while our busiest days of the week are Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Avoid the lines by renewing early and visiting on Wednesday or Thursday and before major holidays. Visit our online services page to see if you can skip the trip entirely.

You must visit a driver license office and bring the necessary documents to replace a lost or stolen driver license or ID card. For security reasons, we cannot provide the audit number required to use the online renewal or address change system.
Each driver license office schedules driving tests differently. Search for your office on the driver license office search page. If you see a link that says "Schedule a driving test," then you can schedule a driving test online. Read the NOTE section for other scheduling options.
Customer service representatives cannot schedule tests or provide information about individual office procedures.

Visit the Failure to Appear website or call the automated system at 1-800-686-0570. If you recently paid your traffic citation fees or fines, please wait seven business days, then check your license eligibility and fee status. Customer service agents cannot help you until the issue has been resolved through the Failure to Appear system.

For questions about your Driver Responsibility surcharges, account information or to make a payment, visit the Municipal Services Bureau (MSB) website or call 1-800-688-6882. You must pay your surcharges to MSB, not DPS. You cannot pay surcharges in driver license offices. If you recently made a payment, please wait seven business days, then check your license eligibility and fee status.
If you paid your surcharges more than seven business days ago and checked your license eligibility and fee status but still need help, email an agent.
Information about reinstating your license is available on the driver license website.
You may pay your reinstatement fees online and find any compliance items you need to send DPS. You cannot pay reinstatement fees in driver license offices.
