Out-of-State
If you are out-of-state, you may request an out-of-state renewal packet by selecting one of the following:

  1. Renew TX DL/ID while out of state (MILITARY) or
  2. Renew TX DL/ID while out of state (NON-MILITARY) or
  3. Request a packet to be mailed to you. Please submit your full name, Texas DL/ID number, and current mailing address to 701@dps.texas.gov

Once we receive your out-of-state renewal packet, your request will take 45 days to process. To expedite your application, you may utilize an overnight mailing service; however, this will only expedite the initial receipt of your paperwork. This time frame may vary for out-of-country applicants. Please follow directions carefully. The most common reason for a returned packet is incomplete paperwork, so you should verify the completeness of your paperwork prior to mailing.
