Upcoming CJIS Security Policy ChangesAug 9, 2013
The APB moved to approve CJIS Security Policy language changes to Section 184.108.40.206.1 Advanced Authentication Policy and Rationale, Section 220.127.116.11.2 Advanced Authentication Decision Tree, and Appendix A with the inclusion of tablets and iPads, and specified controls as outlined.
The APB has passed the changes to the CJIS Security Policy for Compensating Controls for Advanced Authentication on a mobile phone or tablet and updated the definition for a patrol vehicle as a Secured Location. These changes should be reflected in the next CJIS Security Policy, Version 5.3 due out in mid-2014. The DPS CJIS Technical Audit team will be auditing agencies to these standards effective immediately. Please review these important updates as they could impact mobile and laptop deployments at the agency.
