Basis for Revocation or Suspension
 of Texas Concealed Handgun Licenses

The data used to compile this report was received through the following avenues:

  • Concealed Handgun License Suspension or Revocation forms submitted by law enforcement agencies
  • Fingerprint cards submitted with new arrest information submitted by law enforcement agencies
  • Uniformed Crime Reporting-Concealed Handgun License Incident Reports submitted by law enforcement agencies
  • Notification programs for delinquent taxes/fees from other Texas Governmental Agencies
  • Complaint letters from individuals/law enforcement officials

Regarding arrest and offense data:

The offense information on the following charts is listed by individual charges and not by the number of arrests or the number of Concealed Handgun License holders.  A license holder may have been arrested on more than one occasion and/or charged with more than one offense at the time of arrest, accordingly the total number of offenses may not equal the total number of Concealed Handgun License holders or the total number of arrests.

The Texas Department of Public Safety relies on law enforcement agencies and District or County Clerk's offices to provide final disposition information, so conviction/dismissal data may still be outstanding.  Once the Concealed Handgun License has been revoked, all tracking of subsequent charge(s)/incident(s) ceases.
