Notice to Physicians licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) under Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 156:
To implement the requirements of House Bill 1803, DPS will begin synchronizing CSR Expiration Dates with TMB Expiration Dates in the near future. To ensure practitioners do not experience disruption in their controlled substances prescribing authority, the following will occur:
- Registrations which currently expire February or March 2014 will automatically be renewed by DPS with a temporary one-year expiration date. The renewal will be completed before expiration without the application and associated fee; no action is required by the practitioner. The information on the Controlled Substances Search and Verification System will be updated.
- Programming updates are in progress at DPS to implement the statutory requirement to synchronize the controlled substances expiration date and the TMB expiration date.
- Once the synchronization is complete, the information on the Controlled Substances Search and Verification System will be updated and new CSR Certificates will be mailed to each affected practitioner.
Please continue to visit this Regulatory Services Division webpage for updates and additional information, as it becomes available.
NOTE: This information applies to those practitioners (MD/DO) who hold a registration permit issued by the TMB under Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 156.
