Citizen Corps
Citizen Corps was established in January, 2002 to help coordinate a variety of voluntary activities aimed at supporting first responders during disasters and emergencies. The goal is to encourage citizen volunteers to be prepared, trained and ready to assist their communities in crisis situations involving all hazards. Citizen Corps is coordinated nationally by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and builds on and supports programs in place in many communities across the country.
