DPS Reminds Texans to Take Precautions As Severe Winter Weather Continues

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is encouraging Texans to take precautions to keep themselves and their families safe as winter weather continues to impact portions of the state throughout the week and into the weekend.

“Parts of Texas are continuing to face cold temperatures, freezing rain, sleet and snow this week, so it is important that residents continue to closely monitor changing weather conditions, and take simple but critical steps to stay safe as this severe weather persists,” said DPS Director Steven McCraw.

Forecasts indicate the possibility of continued freezing rain, sleet and snow accumulation across areas of Texas, including the Texas Panhandle, West Texas and North Texas. There is also a slight possibility that portions of Central Texas could receive freezing rain by the end of the week.
