Most Wanted Sex Offender Arrested in Houston

AUSTIN – Nicholas Vonwayne Prejean, 24, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, is now in custody after being arrested on Thursday in Houston by Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigations Division agents. Prejean was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and probation violation.

Agents located Prejean at a residence where he was arrested without incident at approximately 6:30 p.m. Thursday. This arrest was the result of a tip, and a reward up to $3,000 will be paid. Two additional occupants of the residence also were arrested on unrelated misdemeanor warrants. Prejean is a high-risk sex offender, with a lengthy criminal history. So far in 2013, DPS and other agencies have arrested 13 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including five gang members, and $20,500 in rewards has been paid for tips that resulted in arrests. The cash rewards are funded by the Governorís Criminal Justice Division.

DPS investigators work with local law enforcement agencies to select fugitives for the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive and Sex Offender lists. You can find the current lists – with photos on the DPS website at http://www.dps.texas.gov/texas10mostwanted/.

Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives; they are considered armed and dangerous.
