Reward for Featured Fugitive Increased to $17,500

AUSTIN –The reward for Ernesto Alonso Garcia, 30, a Texas Most Wanted Fugitive, has increased to up to $17,500 for information leading to his arrest if the tip comes in during the month of July. The Texas Syndicate gang member has a violent criminal history, and is wanted for murder, aggravated assault and drug trafficking.

Garcia, whose last known address was in Edinburg, Texas, is a Mexican citizen who legally resides in the United States as a permanent resident. He is wanted for the 2011 stabbing of two men, one of whom died as a result of his injuries.

He is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 155 pounds. Garcia has more than 90 aliases, and is known to go by two nicknames – “ Rooster” and “Gallito” – and has “Garcia” tattooed on his back. For more information, see his wanted bulletin at: : http://www.dps.texas.gov/Texas10MostWanted/fugitiveDetails.aspx?id=93.

One offender from the Texas 10 Most Wanted Program is featured each month in hopes the higher reward money from the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division will generate additional tips. The higher reward amount will only be paid if the tip comes in the same month the fugitive is featured.
