AUSTIN – John Michael Enard, 59, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, is now in custody and awaiting extradition after his capture Friday in California. Enard, considered a sexually violent predator at high risk to reoffend, removed his ankle monitor Jan. 19 and fled from a Houston halfway house. Since his capture was the result of a tip, a reward of up to $3,000 will be paid.
Enard was arrested Friday afternoon by the Los Angeles Police Department, working with Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division agents, after an anonymous tip led them to a homeless shelter in Los Angeles. He was taken into custody without incident. He was wanted for parole violation and felony failure to comply with civil commitment requirements. For more information, see the captured bulletin at: http://www.dps.texas.gov/Texas10MostWanted/capturedDetails.aspx?id=179
