Types of Company and School Licenses

This agency issues and regulates the following company and school license types:

Company Licenses

• Class A – Private Investigation Company License
• Class B – Security Contractor Company License
  (This includes locksmiths applying under the provisions of SB 1252, 78th Legislative Session, Security Consultant, 80th Legislative Session and Electronic Access Device Control, 81st Legislative Session)
• Class C – Private Investigation and Security Contractor Company License
• Class P – Private Business Letter of Authority
• Class X – Governmental Letter of Authority
• Class T – Telematics

School Licenses

• Class F – Level III Training School License
• Class O – Alarm Level I Training School License
• Class Y – Continuing Education (CE) School License

Instructor License and Registration

• Instructor G – Level 3 - Firearm Instructor
• Instructor H – Level 3 - Classroom Instructor
• Instructor J – Level 3 - Combine (Firearm/Classroom Instructor)
• Instructor K – Alarm Instructor
• Instructor W – Level 4 - Personal Protection Instructor
• Instructor Y - Continuing Education (CE)
