Fingerprinting Instructions

Under State law, DPS must conduct a fingerprint based state and FBI Criminal History background check as part of the application process for Private Security applicants.

Fingerprint Submission
All Original Private Security applicants are required to submit fingerprints to DPS as part of the complete application. Applicants must submit fingerprints electronically, regardless of whether the applicant submits a paper application or an online application.

Steps for submitting electronic fingerprints:

  1. Submit: Online application for registration OR complete paper application forms from the DPS website.
  2. Login to http://www.identogo.com
  3. Select: Texas, Online Scheduling, English or Español
  4. Enter: First and Last Name (as it appears on your driver license / ID card)
  5. Select: Private Security as the reason you are being fingerprinted
  6. Enter: Private Security Company license number from applicant’s employer
  7. Enter: The trace number found on the receipt page from the online application or seven-digit CCR number at the top right corner of the cancelled check / money order submitted with the paper application. (Note: If payment was submitted by the employer, please contact the company to obtain this number.)
  8. Enter: The remaining information as prompted.
  9. Complete the FAST Fingerprint Pass and take it with you to the fingerprint appointment.

Note: Applicants who choose to submit a paper application must wait to schedule their appointment after the application has been processed through the mail and they are able to obtain the seven-digit CCR number at the top right corner of the cancelled check / money order.

Bulk Payments
If the bulk payment option is utilized, payment must be submitted before scheduling the fingerprint appointment. The one trace number provided with the bulk payment should be used to schedule a fingerprint appointment for each applicant associated with the bulk payment.
