Quick Reference Guide

Begin Using TAVIS Unit Þ Turn power button on if not already on Þ select the number/letter key next to the desired function.

Inspector Login Þ Enter ID and PIN Þ select “F2” to Continue.

Change Inspector PIN Þ Select “7. Change Inspector PIN” from Inspection Menu Þ enter new PIN and confirm new PIN entry Þ select “F2” to Continue Þ select secret question from list and enter answer Þ select “F2” to return to Inspection Menu.

Conduct Initial Inspection Þ Select “1. Conduct Initial Inspection” from Inspection Menu Þ Login Þ scan or manually enter VIN and enter required information Þ select “F2” to Continue Þ enter required vehicle data into appropriate fields Þ select “F2” to Continue Þ enter data for inspection items as requested Þ “Next” Þ enter data for inspection items as requested Þ “Next” to proceed or “Previous” to go back to previous screen until the Safety Results Summary Screen is displayed Þ select “F2” to Continue if results are correct or highlight an item to return to a previous inspection data entry screen Þ enter cost and certificate information (VI-30 if applicable) Þ submit inspection results Þ view Vehicle Inspection Report Þ select “F12” to return to Inspection Menu.

Conduct Re-inspection Þ Select “2. Conduct Re-Inspection” from Inspection Menu Þ Login Þ search for previous inspection record Þ update previously failed inspection items Þ complete the inspection process from Safety Results Summary screen as detailed above in Conduct Initial Inspection

Cancel Inspection Þ Within the Safety Inspection select “F12” Þ Cancel Inspection Screen will appear Þ choose a reason from the list or enter “Other Reason” Þ select “F2” to continue and return to the Inspection Menu or “F12” to return to the inspection process without canceling.

Issue VI-30 Certificate Þ Select “3. Issue a VI-30 Certificate” from Inspection Menu Þ search for inspection record Þ complete one page of required vehicle information Þ select “F2” to issue VI-30 and return to Inspection Menu.

Replace Certificate Þ Select “4. Replace Certificate” from Inspection Menu Þ search for inspection record Þ complete required certificate information Þ select “F2” to continue with replacement Þ view new Vehicle Inspection Report Þ select “F12” to return to Inspection Menu.

Manage Certificate Status Þ Select “6. Manage Certificate Status” from Inspection Menu Þ enter relevant certificate (or book) information Þ select “F2” to continue with status change Þ confirmation screen is displayed Þ select “F2” to return to Inspection Menu.

Display TAVIS Messages Þ From the Main Menu select “3. View Stored Messages” Þ message list displays Þ select “F12” to return to Main Menu.

Perform Data Refresh Þ From the Main Menu select “2. Data Refresh” Þ wait for communication status message Þ select “F12” to return to Main Menu. (This is on the Inspection Menu too, number “5. Data Refresh”)

Purchase Certificates Þ From the Main Menu select “4. Certificate Purchase” Þ Certificate Sales Application will appear for login Þ when purchases are complete select “Alt + R” to return to TAVIS Unit Main Menu.

Receive Inventory At Station Þ From the Main Menu select “5. Receive Inventory” Þ manually enter or scan all certificate books received (20 books at a time) Þ select “F2” to continue with receive Þ confirmation screen is displayed Þ select “F2” to return to Main Menu.

View Reports Þ From the Main Menu select “8. Reports” Þ select the number key next to the desired report Þ enter parameters to run report by Þ select “F2” to run report Þ view report Þ select “F12” to return to Main Menu.

Configure Connection Þ From the Main Menu select “a. Configure Connection” Þ choose the Connection Type used and enter dialing prefix needed (if applicable) Þ select “F3” to Save the settings and return to Main Menu.

Training Mode Þ From the Main Menu select “6. Training Mode” Þ Enter ID and PIN Þ select “F2” to log in to Inspection Menu - Training Mode Þ practice all inspection processes Þ Remember to logout “0. Logout” of training mode.
