Trooper - Trainee Applicant Process

STEP 1 Application, Forms, Testing

  1. Submit your application on-line. Your application will be reviewed and you will be notified by email or phone to continue on to step 2 through 4 if you meet the minimum requirements.
  2. Print and complete the Waiver for Trooper Trainee (HR-99) (PDF) form.  This form must be notarized by a notary or DPS employee.
  3. Print and complete the Personnel History Statement/Pre-Employment Polygraph (RC-4) form.
  4. All forms must be submitted with the required documents before you will be scheduled for testing (original certified copy of your birth certificate, current credit report, certified college Transcripts, DD-214 for military personnel only, certified High School transcripts) to the nearest Recruiter/Tester by mail or in person.

    1. Sit-Ups *
    2. Push-Ups *
    3. 1.5 Mile Run*

STEP 6 Oral Board Interview

STEP 7 Conditional Job Offer

  1. Psychological Evaluation
  2. Medical Examination
  3. Vision Test

STEP 8 Letter of Invitation to the DPS Training Academy
